Live beta · open to testers

Your mesh is the board.

It's a slow territory game that runs on the Meshtastic and MeshCore networks you already have. Your node just listens while you go about your day, and whatever it hears is how you take the hex you're standing in.

  • Mostly just listening, pinging is up to you
  • One byte per ping, capped per hour
  • Hex level only, never where you actually are
  • Free: self-hosted, no ads, nothing tracked

Taking ground

  1. Surveyed

You pinged and nobody answered. That still counts, and a quiet hex on the map tells people something too.

  2. Scouted

Your node heard real traffic here. You don't own it yet, and anyone else can scout it too.

  3. Claimed

You spent a bit of time in it. Driving through doesn't count. From here it's yours, and it starts earning.

  4. Hardened

You kept picking up detections there, or you paid for it. Harder for anyone to take, and it fades more slowly.

  5. Fortified

The top of the ladder. Expensive on purpose, or it just happens under an HQ or repeater you run.

And a real coverage map

The same board doubles as a public record of where the mesh really reaches: every node a player's radio has heard, Meshtastic and MeshCore, hex by hex. You don't need an account, and you don't need to play.

The public coverage map: Meshtastic and MeshCore nodes heard across Slovenia, drawn as dots on hexes of about 350 m, over the coloured game layer.

That's a still of the live map, taken straight from it. If you run a node anywhere near a player you're probably on there already, and if you'd rather not be, the contact form on the privacy page takes it off.

What it asks of your node

A node

Any Meshtastic or MeshCore device your phone can reach over Bluetooth, or one on USB if you play from a desk. Stock firmware is fine. Nothing to flash, nothing to patch.

One channel, Meshtastic only

A secondary channel called MeshTorry, which the app offers to add for you. On MeshCore there's no channel at all. Nothing else on your node changes either way.

The app

Android, or the web app in a Chromium-based browser with Web Bluetooth. Same game either way, and the Android build works offline and uploads once you're back in coverage.

Get in

The beta's small on purpose. You'll get the rough version: bugs, unfinished edges, numbers that still shift around, and a direct line to me.

I run all of this myself, on my own hardware. No ads, nothing to buy, nothing tracked, and the map never shows anything finer than a hex. Same rule for me as for everyone else.
